The Grand Finale: Kirklees Most Wanted Returns to The Terrace for Showcase #4

The search for the region’s most electrifying talent has reached its peak. After three explosive nights that proved Huddersfield and Dewsbury is a forces to be reckoned with on the UK music map, we are back for the 4th and final installment of the Kirklees Most Wanted Showcases for this season.

On Friday, 17th April 2026, The Terrace will transform once again into a sanctuary for grassroots music. For our final bow, we’ve curated a lineup that perfectly captures the eclectic, high-energy spirit of Kirklees.

ADENiCO

ADENiCO is an independent artist from West Yorkshire blending Soul, Indie Rock and Hip-Hop into a melodic, genre-crossing sound. Known as a vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, he has performed at prominent venues across the UK — including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club — and has supported artists such as Children of Zeus. His music pairs introspective lyricism with live instrumentation and contemporary production, pushing beyond genre while remaining grounded in authenticity. After over 10 years in the industry ADENiCO recently released his debut single ‘OUTSIDUES’ in collaboration with DNB DJ/producer Ventus.

DEAF ROMERO

The Vibe: Explosive, eccentric, and high-octane. Hailing from the Halifax/Huddersfield circuit, DEAF ROMERO is a trio that needs to be seen to be believed. Fresh off BBC Introducing airplay, their sound is a “cartoony,” neon-soaked tribute to ‘90s alt-rock. Expect dual vocals, synth wizardry, and stories ranging from the occult to the breakfast table. They are unpredictable, electrifying, and loud.

Reight Twang

The Vibe: Gritty, rhythmic, and unapologetically Northern. As authentic as their name suggests, Reight Twang delivers a high-octane collision of ska, punk, funk, and rock. With a distinct regional edge and a reputation for turning any floor into a pulsing crowd, their grit and groove are the perfect match for the intimate energy of The Terrace.

Supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Arts Council England and Saving Grace Collective, this series has been about more than just gigs; it’s been a celebration of the “sonic soul” of our community.

Soul, Grit, and Chaos at The Terrace

Venue: The Terrace, Dewsbury
Date: 20/03/2026
Artists: Elefem, DuckLin Curls & Vazon
On the Decks: Fiesta La Ginger

If anyone still thinks “nothing happens in Dewsbury,” they clearly weren’t at The Terrace last Friday. Yet another of the Kirklees Most Wanted showcase series came to town. In an intimate, enthralling atmosphere, we saw exactly why the Kirklees scene is currently the one to watch.

The Vibes: Fiesta La Ginger

The night was glued together by Fiesta La Ginger, who kept the energy high from the moment doors opened. Eschewing the typical “background music” approach, her transitions between sets were masterclasses in vibe-management, blending high-energy beats that ensured the floor never stayed empty for long.

The Opener: Elefem

Taking the first live slot, was the incomparable Elefem. Manchester-born but firmly embraced by the Leeds/Kirklees circuit, she delivered a masterclass in modern Soul and R&B. Her vocals are liquid gold—smooth, yet possessing a sharp edge that cuts through the room. Whether she was hitting velvet-low notes or soaring through jazz-infused runs, Elefem commanded the stage with a natural flair that suggests she won’t be playing venues this small for much longer.

The Lyricist: DuckLin Curls

The atmosphere shifted gears with DuckLin Curls. Bringing a raw, unpredictable edge to the stage, Curls back from his adventures in Oz leaned into his Wu-Tang and Mac Miller influences. His flow is effortless, but it’s the introspective depth of his lyrics that really grabbed the room. It was gritty, honest, and served as a perfect mid-point reminder of the diversity this showcase aims to highlight. DuckLin Curls is BACK to reinstate his claim on the UK watch this space, you’re going to see him everywhere the young man is a special talent!!

The Closers: Vazon

Closing the night was Vazon, they proved why they’re whispered about as one of the best up and coming live bands in West Yorkshire. Drawing on the heavy, melodic DNA of bands like Muse, Royal Blood, Deftones and more, their set was a wall of sound. They managed to make a 100-capacity venue feel like a stadium, converting the chaos of the world into high-voltage rock that left the audience visibly stunned.

Ruby Wood – Superstar

Smokey and sensual, with a groove straight out of the 70s, “Superstar” is a collaboration that works on every level. The low vocals provided by Ruby Wood swirl into the smooth, bubbly bass and trumpet accents to make a rich sound that’s the audio equivalent of red wine.

“Superstar” is a song about the fantasy of dating a superstar, and the lyrics are filled with a sort of quiet awe that speaks to the head-spinning notion of that premise – though given Wood’s extensive touring and sellout Wembly Arena and Manchester Apollo performances, it’s fair to say she’s the superstar in the relationship.

“Superstar” is R&B at its finest – an easy-listening jam that’s hard to dislike.

Leo Brazil – Perhaps I Have The Power

Heartfelt and soulful, “Perhaps I Have The Power” is a sweet and simple folk ballad and a plainly raw acknowledgement that things will be better. Brazil’s low and thick vocals and honestly hopeful lyrics make for a powerfully uplifting core, and the bassy guitar strums and thumping percussion coalesce into a pleasantly soulful sound to accompany it.

Brazil’s love for music is evident in the deceptively strong production – including background choral vocals, warbling Mellotron, and subtly mixed bass – which compliment the core song without tainting the simple, folksy sound. That, and the heartfelt declaration that “music is always around when you’re feeling down.”

I can’t think of a better example of that sentiment than “Perhaps I have the Power”

Foxglove Riot – Subterranean Garlic

Foxglove Riot is an “Earth-based melodic glitch duo” known for their eclectic and unconventional sound. Their music blends genre-bending elements with futuristic, intergalactic textures, creating a sonic palette that feels entirely their own. Every track they produce carries a sense of adventure, pushing listeners beyond the boundaries of traditional electronic music and into worlds that feel otherworldly and imaginative.

Their track “Subterranean Garlic” takes this even further, using long delays and echo-soaked effects to create a fully immersive listening experience. From the moment the track begins, you’re pulled into a different dimension—one where direction feels fluid and the ground seems to shift beneath you. The combination of a groovy, funk-driven bassline with sharp, glitchy drum patterns gives the track a lively pulse, blending genres in a way that feels natural yet unpredictable.

The echoed, harmonised vocals float above the mix, adding a dreamy, ethereal layer that softens the song’s more experimental edges. Together, these elements form a soundscape that’s rich, atmospheric, and hypnotic. “Subterranean Garlic” showcases Foxglove Riot’s ability to merge complexity with accessibility, leaving listeners both disoriented and completely captivated.

Hannah Rowe & Ibibio Sound Machine tear the roof off at Parish

The Parish in Huddersfield, known for its intimate, energetic atmosphere, was the perfect crucible for the sonic fireworks delivered by Ibibio Sound Machine on Friday night. It was an evening that started in soulful reflection and exploded into a joyous, sweat-drenched dance party, proving once again that the best nights out are those where the walls feel like they’re breathing along with the crowd.

Support: Hannah Rowe—A Local Star Shines Bright

Leeds based and Kirklees Most Wanted alumni Hannah Rowe set the bar high, proving exactly why she’s generating so much buzz. Trading the massive festival stages for the confines of The Parish, Rowe’s powerful, soulful voice filled every corner of the room. Drawing heavily on her jazz and soul influences, she delivered tracks like the reflective “Bellevue” and the massive “Waistcoat” with an emotional depth that belied the venue’s small size. Performing with a scaled down outfit from her normal 10-piece band they managed to create a sophisticated, layered soundscape that was both rich and intimate, providing a perfect, locally-sourced dose of warmth before the main event.

Headliners: Ibibio Sound Machine

When Ibibio Sound Machine took the stage, the vibe shifted instantly. Led by the magnetic Nigerian-British vocalist Eno Williams, the eight-piece group immediately plunged the packed room into a mesmerizing blend of West African highlife, post-punk electronica, and pure 80s synth-funk.

Williams is an unstoppable force of nature, narrating in the Ibibio language (often translated in real-time through her movements and sheer energy) while commanding the stage. The band’s setlist, featuring fan favourites like “Electricity,” “The Chant (Iquo Isang),” and the hypnotic “Protection From Evil,” was a masterclass in controlled chaos. Each song was a vibrant, polyrhythmic workout, driven by the relentless, propulsive basslines and the swirling, retro synthesizers that give the band its distinctive electronic edge.

The Parish’s relatively small 300-capacity room amplified the intensity; there was no room to stand still. By the time the band launched into the irresistible call-and-response of “Fire Fire Fire, Higher Higher Higher” the floor was a unified mass, hands in the air, echoing the sheer joy radiating from the stage.

The Huddersfield crowd’s embrace of the band’s global sound was a testament to the universal language of rhythm. Ibibio Sound Machine didn’t just play a gig; they curated a transcendental experience that lifted the spirits and left everyone feeling like they’d just participated in something primal and necessary. An unforgettable show, cemented by the raw energy that only a venue like The Parish can provide.

Hannah Rowe – Bellevue

Hannah Rowe is an upcoming jazz vocalist based in West Yorkshire. After selling out a multitude of local venues and a summer full of festivals, her 10-piece band of close friends are now celebrating their recent EP with a new single called ‘Bellevue’. It’s a bittersweet, beautiful song which takes the listener on a journey of hesitant growth after friendship break-ups and growing apart. Rowe’s soulful sound and lyricism guide us through being young and learning to live, nostalgia and embracing the nature of change.

‘Bellevue’ starts with some enchanting, fingerpicked guitar and it’s only a few seconds before Hannah’s vocals flow into the song like water. A simply paced bassline then brings more reliant rhythm into the first verse and a lack of percussion at this point produces calm ambience with emphasis on the emotional vocals. From the beginning, this track is an obvious musical masterclass because we’re constantly being introduced to new instrumentation. So much energetic innovation is packed into this 3-minute song, yet it still upholds a sense of settled tranquillity. The chorus is vulnerable, intimate and is soon built with a swelling brass section and backing vocals which completely transform the song into its own alluring scene which still re-enforces that classic lounge jazz sound.
