WRXL. Routes.

Wilson’s Republic is 10 years old!

To celebrate, they’re bringing you an all-day event packed with inspiration and insight, which will take place on Thursday, October 23rd

Day Time Event:

11am – 6pm
The Blending shed,
Bates mill, Queens Street south, Huddersfield

A line-up of 6 stellar speakers from across different creative disciplines
A live speaker panel for you to ask questions
Onsite food vendors, bar and merchandise stall
A break out space where you can work, drink coffee or just hang out.

Their theme is ROUTES. In a creative career, there is no one ‘golden path’. Routes will explore the pivots, twists and turns that shape creative careers. It’s something that couldn’t feel more relevant for the creative industries at the moment and we feel it’s important to address, share and discuss with inspirational speakers from around the UK.

They are returning to Bates Mill, the venue for our first conference in 2017. It has a rich heritage in textiles production and is now a beating creative heart for the town of Huddersfield.

Night Time Event:

7.00pm – 11.00pm
Amped (formerly Brewdog),
Zetland St, Huddersfield

They will host a full-on private Afterparty in collaboration with us featuring live music and DJs. Social, drinks and community

Line Up:

Good Good Blood

Good Good Blood (aka James Smith) has slowly, over the course of a number of EP’s and album releases, built a reputation for beautiful, affecting and honest song writing.  Using a minimal, lo-fi recording set up Smith manages to make his songs burst into being, blossoming and flourishing, each one a testament to life, love and everything that goes along with it.
Field recordings punctuate the music. Birds sing, children play and fire rattles, grounding it in the small northern town where Smith lives.  Echoes of Mount Eerie, Alex G and Bon Iver are ever present but, as Smith has shown throughout all his releases, this is an artist furrowing his own path and defining his own sound.

Hannah Rowe

A young vocalist based in Huddersfield and Leeds who is lucky enough to be backed by a group of wildly passionate musicians who are her adored, closest friends. After meeting at Leeds College of Music in 2021, we intertwined our varied influences to paint our own alluring and soulful sound – one so special that it is difficult to define, but resembles the likes of Raye, Olivia Dean, Sasha Keable and Cleo Sol.

Don Gonzo

Don Gonzo fuse the spacey sounds and driving energy of Psychedelic Rock with Jazz, Prog and Post-Punk. With anxious tetchy hooks and an indulgence in jazz chords, Don Gonzo offer a complex yet always danceable sound, dressed with radical rhythm changes and hypnotic grooves.

Therealdemo (Spinning Funk, Soul and Hip Hop classics new and old throughout the night)

A staple of the West Yorkshire music scene, Therealdemo is a DJ and musical force known for his dynamic collaborations and versatile style. He is the official DJ for artist Savvy, a key member of the group Savvy & The Savoir Faire, and a driving force behind the Freshkids collective. Beyond the booth, you can find him energizing festival stages with his mix of genres, from new and classic funk and soul to hip-hop and more. With his signature blend of musical selections, Therealdemo delivers high-energy sets that get any crowd moving.
