A one-off special evening with local folk band Hebble & Kirklees Most Wanted participants. Come and follow the Greek bouzouki across Europe and see this fascinating instrument sweep through a variety of beautiful folk traditions. In multiple languages, songs and tunes from Poland, Czech Republic, The Balkan Peninsula, Italy, England, Scotland, Ireland, and, of course, Greece. Performed on bouzouki, cello, and bodhran. Opening set from masterful singer, bouzouki and oud player Anestis Saraliotis. Food from Greek O’Clock.

Hebble
Probably the only trio in the world with a Greek bouzouki, cello and bodhran. Lively world folk – upbeat and interactive with twists of the alternative, and plenty of three-part harmonies. Folk standards, catchy choruses, belting rhythms, and tunes to make the heart sing.

Anestis Saraliotis
Music is the way the heart communicates with the soul. Life-long bouzouki player and singer of Rebétiko (Greek folk music), Anestis roots the Greek tradition into the north of England. His heartfelt bouzouki and oud playing accompanying his rich singing voice is bound to bring you with him.

Greek O’Clock
Greek street food made with love. For one night only Huddersfield-based Greek O’Clock will be bringing their food to the Watershed. Simply add one or more of their souvlakis when you order a ticket to the gig. Vegan, veggie, and meat options available. Wraps are loaded with tzatziki, onion, tomato and chips.

Eve Joné Dazzles Packed House at Magic Rock Tap

Kirklees Most Wanted participant Eve Joné brought down the house at a recent performance at the Magic Rock Tap on December 20th. The venue was overflowing with a diverse crowd, a vibrant mix of friends, family, and even some of her former teachers, all eager to soak in her music. The festive atmosphere was palpable as everyone enjoyed their Christmas break, creating a truly special ambiance.

Eve captivated the audience with her powerful vocals and a captivating selection of songs. She poured her heart and soul into each performance, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.

Eve said;

“the amount of people here on the Friday before Christmas was insane… so whether you heard the yelling from the bar or me singing louder thank you to everyone that came and supported me💙”

Carol Hodge – Waving Not Drowning

Carol Hodge is an extremely versatile and accomplished performer. A pianist, vocalist and songwriter, Carol has worked extensively with The Wildhearts and guested with punk oufits The Membranes and The Headsticks. She has toured widely around the UK. Although her roots are firmly in the punk scene, Carol has created her own sound and has produced four studio albums as a solo artist. Waving Not Drowning opens with mellow piano which leads into Hodge’s rich, strong vocals. The steady tempo builds up to a powerful chorus which Hodge delivers with ease. The passionately sang chorus is balanced nicely with tender, intricate piano. The lyrics and melodies of this Alanis Morisette like track are extremely compelling. The song tackles the very real themes of mental health issues and discusses the difficulties of life and how it can sometimes be tricky to support friends who are struggling. “We saw the ripples but we missed the signs/ I guess I couldn’t be there every time/Nobody can be there every time.” Powerful and emotive stuff!
