Country/rock multi-instrumentalist Mick Rawlings is a sensation in the making, and his passion for music only grows stronger with every release! His artist name represents his relationship with music and his plans to carry it with him through every milestone in life. This week, I spoke with Mick about his creative background, his influences and his upcoming projects!
What’s Your Background In Music?
Originally playing drums for his brass band, Mick started his musical journey thanks to his enthusiastic and supportive music teacher in high school. Since then, he has performed countless gigs at college and uni, developing his stage presence and lyrical prowess.
“I have always listened to music, everywhere I go it’s part of me and will always stay with me.”
Currently, Mick is taking part in the Kirklees Most Wanted project, where his passion for his art can shine brighter than ever before.
What Is Your Biggest Achievement So Far?
Mick’s greatest achievement so far is reaching a monumental 500 streams on his debut single ‘I’m On The Edge’. Now, he is ready to reach greater heights with his new upcoming single ‘Sing On My Own’ – its release date is yet to be announced, and it is highly anticipated amongst fans of Mick!
Who Are Your Biggest Inspirations In Music?
Mick turns to the likes of Luke Combs, Bon Jovi and Brett Kissle for inspiration when he writes; with these influences, it’s no wonder Mick’s tracks are full of power and extremely addictive to fans of country and rock!
When asked who he’d love to collaborate with in the future, Mick said Bon Jovi – and for good reason.
“I love his music and his greatest hits CD was the first album I listened to. I like the lead guitar riffs but mainly the drums, I am a drummer at heart.”
Any fan of rock will tell you Bon Jovi is one of the greats, and to collaborate with an artist like this would be a dream come true for Mick.
Recommend Me An Album/Single/Soundtrack
Mick recommends the single ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ by Luke Combs, which is a track he holds very close to his heart. A classic country rock ballad, it tells the story of teenage angst and an adventure between two brothers. Songs packed with emotion and clever lyricism are what Mick gravitates to, “it has a great storyline and an amazing guitar solo”.
