Zapiain – Next Time Take Me With You

Initially formed in 2003, three-piece punk/rock band Zapiain have taken their music all around the UK. Not only do they have two albums and consistent gigs, they pride themselves on bringing bands from elsewhere to Kirklees for a richer, more diverse musical scene. Zapiain take the best features from punk and classic rock and break through the noise with their emotional storytelling, accentuated perfectly in their latest single ‘Next Time Take Me With You’.

Ready for the next rock festival, ‘Next Time Take Me With You’ is inspired by returning to our endeavours post-global pandemic and the witnessing of historical change. The honest lyricism within this track is blanketed within catchy melodies, sitting amongst classic rock staples such as heavy guitars and pulsing bass. The urgency of the tempo mirrors our motivation to start our lives back up again, with a new outlook on everyday mundane tasks. These lyrics can also be interpreted as rekindling relationships or creative projects that have been put on hold for different reasons, returning wiser and stronger than before.

Mundi Club – Merry Go Round

Mundi Club finds solace in music, “writing songs about life, death, and purpose”. The eclectic indie/rock band have sculpted their sound together, slowly forming over 35+ years, and write about their past experiences. No ego’s involved, just passion and self-reflection.

‘Merry Go Round’ is about the sad loss of somebody close to them due to depression, and the impact this can have on loved ones for years after. The lyricism reflects regret, and wishing you could go back and have that conversation – but it also highlights how everybody grieves differently, and how changing your behaviour can have a positive impact on the way you carry this grief.

The track itself has a rolling bassline, hard-hitting drums and classic distorted guitar in legendary rock fashion. The vocals hold hopelessness and mourning, along with power and growth, and that is what sets Mundi Club apart from the crowd.

Brad Mack Band – Not In Love

Based in the North, the Brad Mack Band is an indie/alternative rock sensation. Making appearances at gigs in Manchester, Huddersfield, Doncaster and Barnsley, they have been perfecting their musical prowess ready for their ‘Something To Say’ EP release later this year. Their angsty and nostalgic single ‘Not In Love’ sets the scene for the rest of their EP with its compelling lyrics and intricate beat, and I can’t wait to hear what the Brad Mack Band have in store for us!

With ambitions to go on tour in 2026, Brad Mack is keen to take their original material on the road; and in anticipation of this, they are celebrating their EP launch gig at the Northern Quarter in Huddersfield on the 15th August. In the past, their music has been described as catchy, with “singalong choruses and meaningful narratives to follow” – be sure to catch their brilliant set before tickets sell out!

‘Not In Love’ is based on the romantic tension of young love, and what started as an acoustic folk track slowly developed into “a more upbeat summer anthem-style track”. This band is definitely one to watch out for, and I predict it won’t be long until they’re playing their catchy tunes to crowds of thousands.
