A one-off special evening with local folk band Hebble & Kirklees Most Wanted participants. Come and follow the Greek bouzouki across Europe and see this fascinating instrument sweep through a variety of beautiful folk traditions. In multiple languages, songs and tunes from Poland, Czech Republic, The Balkan Peninsula, Italy, England, Scotland, Ireland, and, of course, Greece. Performed on bouzouki, cello, and bodhran. Opening set from masterful singer, bouzouki and oud player Anestis Saraliotis. Food from Greek O’Clock.
Hebble Probably the only trio in the world with a Greek bouzouki, cello and bodhran. Lively world folk – upbeat and interactive with twists of the alternative, and plenty of three-part harmonies. Folk standards, catchy choruses, belting rhythms, and tunes to make the heart sing.
Anestis Saraliotis Music is the way the heart communicates with the soul. Life-long bouzouki player and singer of Rebétiko (Greek folk music), Anestis roots the Greek tradition into the north of England. His heartfelt bouzouki and oud playing accompanying his rich singing voice is bound to bring you with him.
Greek O’Clock Greek street food made with love. For one night only Huddersfield-based Greek O’Clock will be bringing their food to the Watershed. Simply add one or more of their souvlakis when you order a ticket to the gig. Vegan, veggie, and meat options available. Wraps are loaded with tzatziki, onion, tomato and chips.
